It's that time of year again! For the 3rd year in a row, I had the privilege of being part of Art Con. All 150+ chosen artists convene in a warehouse in Dallas on the same day, and create their pieces to be auctioned off a week later. It's become more than just creating, but almost a celebration and bonding experience. My favorite people set up our "camp" in the corner, complete with cupcakes, wine, and good conversation. I love knowing that our pieces were all made in such a positive and cheerful environment.
Art Conspiracy is a nonprofit community that conspires to bring artists and musicians together, raise funds, and activate awareness for regional creative programs and causes. You can learn more about Art Con and see my pieces from years past here and here.
I managed to take a few photos before my hand was completely useless. :)
Creation day! All participating artists converge in a warehouse each year to create their original piece on Art Con's signature 18x18" board.
Humble beginnings with my Cykochik tote filled with all my essentials.
My friend Iris brought this lovely creature to boost morale! (it worked)
My favorite tool of the trade for these wood panels are Permapaque markers. I use mostly fine tipped, and the larger ones to fill in. If you use these, definitely be sure to prime your wood first to prevent bleeding. They are extremely pigmented and glide beautifully.
My lovely friends Iris (creative pastry chef/painter/mixed media goddess) and Edna, hard at work.
The amazing Monica Moody (alcohol ink/illustration/pyrography extraordinaire) and her talented husband Matt.
All our pieces drying before the big day!
My piece raised $475 for Make Art with a Purpose! Thank you to my winning bidder, whoever you are. <3
