A Summer Love Affair with Canvas.

Since the Red Bull Canvas Cooler Project, I've been a little obsessed with drawing on canvas. As with most artists, I've experimented with many different mediums, and I've come to the conclusion that paint just isn't my thing. I love the precise, portable aspect of pens and markers, and I'm determined to draw on everything and anything I can get my hands on! These 10x10" canvases were a lot of fun. I'm so used to working on pieces that are much more detailed and intricate, so it was nice to have a little instant gratification when working on these.

I can't express how much I love Sakura's Permapaque markers when working with canvas. They are highly pigmented, never bleed, and remain perfect underneath both spray and brush-on varnishes.

My next canvas project is a huge one. For the next 2 months I'll be working on the pieces I'll be exhibiting at SCOPE Miami in December. I'll be posting updates on those soon. To say I'm ridiculously excited is a huge understatement!

In Motion.

I've had several people ask me about my process, especially when it comes to these inky collages. I made a quick video of me doodling for a few minutes to kind of give you an idea of how I work. I plan to do a much better stop-motion version that shows a drawing from start to finish. Enjoy!
